    lightning gearcase on 91 omc

    I just bought a 08 lightning case for my 91 omc 6 and wondering if it will bolt up or the shaft length is gona be an issue ?

    Hey Ryan,,,, guessing you don't need my spare now... 92 gearcases and up have a two-piece driveshaft and are longer by 1/4" ? ....Don't know about bolting up.... My memory only lasts a few minutes nowdays.... i'll text ya later,,,

    Its a johnson 200 built by gordon. I gues ill pull some mesurments
    and have the shaft shortened if I have to. I was just curious cuz I don't have the case yet.

    some shafts are nearly an inch longer, i think the 60 degree are shorter than 90?? i could be wrong on models but i know there are different shaft lengths out there.

    the shaft length from the top of the case to the top of the shaft on 79-91 v-6 crossflow and looper was 21 3/4" while the 92-94 was 22 1/8" I am not sure on the 08, I had the opposite on mine 94 gearcase with 88 powerhead so I had to have mine shortened some so it would not bottom in the crankshaft, Measure both and you should see, Matt

    Approx 1/4" - 3/8" difference between late and early 3.0's.
