newb question: why splashwell delete?
i see a lot of guys doing transom and or recore jobs, adding knees and doing splashwell deletes.
but i am not 100% sure why the splashwell delete. maybe interferes with the knees? but most knee jobs look like they could still fit under the splashwell. or at least you could make the knees just a little bit lower and they would definitely fit the splashwell. not sure what i'm missing here.
or maybe you like the way it looks, in the same way some guys like shortened mids?
forgive my newbieness. i've learned a lot since i joined here and started boating, 4 years ago, but i still have a lot to learn.

It was there to account for the clamps on the old motors, not needed anymore. Looks nicer also. My boat didn't have one from new but I would do the delete if I were to redo an old boat.

Stronger, lighter, more room for knees, and as said, not needed anymore.

Aha! Clamp on motors. Duh! Obviously not needed these days. So remove that feature you don't need = cleaner look, lighter/stronger. Didn't even consider that one. Thanks guys.

They inevitably stress crack in the corners also. Not to mention, without the splashwell you can go thicker with the transom.

A splashwell serves zero purpose, and the benefits of not having one is very many...
