    Stv new aluminum trailer build

WATCH MY BUILD OF NEW ALUMINUM STV TRAILER. Purchased an STV Euro last month with the CAT's ASs of all steel trailers by Custom Line. Living in South Florida and knowing I'm rocking the Key's and lots of other Salt Venue's I'm having to change the unit really hard to match the quality of the steel build. I love the way the Custom Line looks and tow's so I'm trying to copy best I can. The aluminum trailers I see all over SF look like erector sets and I didn't want a bucket of bolts. I convinced Willie of ALL AMERICAN TRAILERS in Pompano Beach, Fl to build a welded aluminum to my spec's, copying of course the Custom Line Steel princess.
Outside rail's are 4.5" I beams with 3) 3.5 welded I beam crossmembers. Outside beams were 24' overall with the first bend at. 11' from the rear second bend at 7' forward of the first. Overall width of frame to be 72" to accommodate a 72" o/c torsion axle 3" aluminum tongue sleeved with 2.5" for strength and rigidly.

Tongue is bolted on just in case I let my wife try backing down the ramp.

Used a 3.5" piece of C channel to land the end of the tongue as the 3" tongue box aluminum would not fit inside the 3.5" I beam. Bolted together as I said before so when the wife bends the crap out of it and jacks my truck bumper it can be replaced easily.

3500 # Tie Down Engineering torsion axle. 72" center at frame rail. Notice the replaceable spindles on their axles. Zirc fitting with grease canals all the way to the back bearings.

Loioks great Dave! I like the replaceable spindles...had a bearing trash one on my last trailer and had to replace the whole axle...

Silly question, but any reason you didn't go with a straight axle rather than the u-bend?
