    Mercury 88' 2.4L 200 performance mods?

Just trying to find out if there is any performance mods that can be made to this motor and if so what they are? The motor is on a 19' Bass boat and I am just trying to get to that 70 mph mark (65 mph now).

Use the search feature in the set up section. I have been living with my ole 2.4 for a long time. Many questions, a lot of reading. At the end of the day, set up is what is going to give you the best bang for your buck. Prop shaft height, set back, the right prop and a healthy compression and leak down number. I'm by no means the authority on it, but have pondered the same question for years now. It is what it is, imo, trying to make it something it isn't will only cost you money and time while shortening the life of the motor. I've been told and believe, after set up gives you all it can, maybe a head shave for a little extra pep, IF THE BLOCK IS VERY HEALTHY. Thats what I got. Best of luck and welcome!

Do search on T-Rex's Cherry 2.4. I built a copy of that and I am very pleased with the results. Good luck.

Agreed, it is a great build, I thought the guy was looking to keep the block together. Maybe, I was wrong. Definitely worth the read and more.
