1996 merc 200 efi oil injection removal.

Has anyone had oil injector pump removed from mercury 200 efi and done the pre-mix. I was wondering what the long term effects might be on this system. Mine is a 1996 mercury 200 efi os. The alarm horn was disconnected when i got it, reconnected it and now it has the beep, beep, beep, beep with out stopping when the engine is running.

This question would be better posted in the technical. Also do a search. There are plenty threads directed at this subject.

Not 100% familiar with that motor. Mine is a little earlier and not EFI but a wise man told me that if the warning alarm is on solid its over heating and if its the oil injection it beeps. There is a sensor on the port side of the motor that looks to see if the oil injection shaft is spinning. If the drive gear strips then there is no oil injection and the alarm beeps. That is a common reason for premixing, its easier than cracking open the case to replace the drive gear.

Also there is a sensor on the reservoir in the engine cover to tell you when you are running out of oil.

Really simple. You can order the little kit online to convert it over.
