Guys the point I was getting at is there no faster then the old stuff outa the box,we have a 3litre omc that races up north that pounds the new e-tec week after week,my buddys Allison had a new e-tec that ran 90 and 92 with a old 3 litre just changing out motors,so tell me are they faster then the old stuff??????Just sold a merc drag motor the same price I payed for it after using it for a season,,and pounding anything on the lakes,,that aint no idiot..And Montes and Rays E-Tecs are by far the best lookin and sounding I have layed eyes on....This debate could go on forever so I am sighning off...

My brothers 1988 200hp was faster then my 300 e-tec on the same boat because he had more RPM to play with. My new 1.62 gearcase solved that problem It takes more then a check book to make a fishing motor go fast, we all know its easier to stoke a check. I have a 3.0 carb motor that will destroy my 300 e-tec but it wont get 7mpg unless its on the trailer. whats your point?

7 mpg with a 34 at 800 rpm? Last time I saw you on a fuel milage run it was dragging one motor halfway back from Chattanooga.

Glenn's numbers haven't been bettered by a 2.5 either....and I think everyone will agree that the 2.5 is a superior motor to the old 2.4....he even had a 20" mid. You're comparing apples and oranges in a sport (top end kilo runs) that doesn't exist here anymore. I think the average Performance boater is MUCH faster today than they were in the 80's. A true 100mph boat was almost unheard of in the 80's...now it's almost common. The big block motors pull some big numbers on average lake boats that a 2.5 can barely push...never mind keeping its internals...well...internal.

Thats a great point, you went from talking about 2.4s to fast 3.0 OMCs to 7mpg with a 280. Wtf does it have to do with this thread?

I rode a harley to the tiki bar last weekend with the radio blasting, they do that well. Making one go fast is difficult, but you'd just go buy an R1 and well you get it....

My point is.... READ THE THREAD FCUKING TITLE!!!
