Here you go Gary. The "gauge" is a gutted tire pressure gauge mounted horizontally on the dash. Any cable with no ends will work. The mount on the engine is a cable clamp on the trim cylinder, and a cable nut mounted to the trim mount on the mid. You can see it in the middle of the 2nd picture.

No is doesn't. You could dress it up, but why? Nice thing about it is it is dead nuts accurate. I have a couple marks on it for racing and running, and when I had the dash in there it showed how well it repeated, every time.

This idea can work, messed with it a little a few years ago.
air cyls are cheap. the whole system would probably be less than $25

I was thinking 2 small bimba cylinders with a hose between them and full of mineral oil.
One in the up position one in the down when full and purged. one can have a spring return to keep it snug.
Put some ideas out there for me to run with.

What clamp bracket are you using? I'll take a picture of my setup tomorrow for you, uses a copy of the Stainless Marine 20" Merc actuator.

Almost all the pics that were posted are gone...any way to repost them as I'm in the process of making a indicator system for the CMC jack plate I just made into a hydraulic plate. When I get everything done I'll start a new thread showing my process of turning a manual Jack plate into a hydraulic. I just want to make a simple manual/mechanical indicator ...similar to the old Stainless Marine indicator. With this Photobucket crap all the pics disappeared

Wow I just posted over on FB the exact same photos as Baja200Merk put up on post 1 of this thread. I am looking for an alternative to the heads up myself. Not even so much as I'm not willing to spend the $500 but I don't like how big of a hole the heads up needs. I only need a trim indicator and I really like how small the hole would be in the pic of the offshore boat with the 4 indicators on post 1. I don't have the time or the ingenuity to make it myself. WHO will make me one like this that's spring loaded and accurate?

This thread got me thinking...what about a single bimba cylinder (or similar) at the back with a simple pressure gauge as some small diameter tubing to the pressure gauge...and just use air. Could print up a new gauge face and stick in on the old one once things are calibrated. I figure calibrate with extra loops of the small tubing to lower the pressure to between your full up and full down.
