Anyone make their own "Heads up" Mechanical Trim gauge?

$500 for the livorsi or stainless mechanical trim gauge is just not happening. I refuse

I saw someone on offshore only made their own heads up gauge and it looked pretty good. I was wondering if anyone else attempted this. Im guessing im gonna need something for the jackplate and maybe the motor also if I dont like how i-command displays it.

    heres the million dollar gauge....

heres the guy on offshore only he made these himself.

Can you save and re-attach the image?

I have always thought mechanical trim indicators in general were over-priced.

just got the super fancy one in for an install in Karls VENOM. The thing in HUGE.!
When i get cought up at the shop i will make something simple and neat.
I was thinking 2 small bimba cylinders with a hose between them and full of mineral oil.
One in the up position one in the down when full and purged. one can have a spring return to keep it snug.
Put some ideas out there for me to run with.

    thanks

    Dago.

Their high zoot one looks like hell. Looks like a hemorrhoid tucker innner.

I've thought about building one myslef for the same reasons but never attempted it. I don't think you can make one.
In case you do...., post lots of pix's

cant be that hard to do if you have an actuator for the clamp bracket,a throttle cable & a way to anchor it to the dash, i hade to rebuild my dash gage due to the wimpy plastic slide inside the stainless gage .it sure is not worth the $$ that they ask for them.like afr said ,with some thought & mcgivering it can be done very nicely.

I think that's the whole gig. IMO, the ones that work look like hell.
With out one though you would be limited in trim travel before pulling the cable out of the dash.

i totally agree gary, the actuators stick out like a sore thumb but you need the belcrank to extend the cable correctly & disengage when the motor is trimed up beyond the useable running trim settings, they can also be homade, jeff ,aka skittles took a cellphone pic of my stainless actuator and made a perfect operating one from some aluminum stock he had laying in his scrap pile.sorry i dont have any pics of it.
