looking for advice and parts
hi everyone~
i am new to this so please bear with me.i am currently running a 1987 150 jonny bored .030 oversize with 1 3/8 carbs mounted to a 10" jackplate,24p 3blade raker prop on a 18.5 skeeter. trying to get all i can out of it without killing it.runs up to about 58mph then it hits the limiter@5900rpm.thinking of adding composite reeds, intake fillers, exhaust stuffers, and stepping up the pitch size on the prop.if anyone out ther can help me out ,that would be great!

Step up the pitch on the prop first, if you are hitting the limiter, you have more room, usually.

Low water pickups and then jack her up and go with a bigger wheel. Get an original Raker to one of our prop experts and let them do there magic. Should break mid 60's as long as the hull is in good shape and the wood in the boat isnt water soaked.
Laser 1550 ...under construction with a serious weight loss

thanks for the response, been awhile since anyone has responded to my post.so i have since gotten my skeeter to run about 65mph@5900rpm with the follwing adjustments on a cool, dry day with the trim all the way up:motor hight @ 3.5in below the pad.a 24p raker repitched to 25. and a set of composite reeds with smoothed out cages and intake.timing is set @28 total advance(etheanol free 93 only).the only problem i have is she is a dog out of the hole, but once the nose drops she takes off like a bat outta hell!could this be a result of the 1 3/8 carbs with 62c jets i am currently running?btw, saw you new thread about fast bass boats, subscribed!

You can get more out of a proper setup and tuning than just buying and bolting stuff on.

with every change i have tuned the set-up,thanks to the helpful advice of many on this forum.prop sizing has been the biggest challange as i actually fish out of my boat more than just ride around, looking for the best of both worlds, speed and reliabilty.currentlly running 65mph &5400rpm w a 25p worked raker, various engine mods, boat holeshots much better with the 1 5/16 carbs back on.could get more rpm with a smaller pitch, but this prop has great lift an doesnt cav in a high speed turn.i do miss my 24 pitch fury though, that was a fantastic prop, some POS stole it at the ramp, hope it kills him!
