Hq .....
That is a very interesting shot of the shop on post #6. I've been there several times and where they are launching the boat, have never seen that section of the wall removed. Molinari launched to the left on the corner where you see another opening. The floor was rolled to the right of where you see it and the boats were hoisted down to the water. I'm guessing that photo is from the Torrigia days and that Molinari closed that wall up after they moved in.

Any guess on how many boats Molinari produced a year in their "heyday"?
Thx-

The one and only Molinari Alloy boat I remember was built for a Scottish dentist named Alan Nimmo, Had a very chequered history as I recall and didn't last anywhere near as long as the tree built. Think it was commissioned -----but payment was slow forthcoming so Renato used it---long and weird story with a very unhappy ending----Nimmo never raced again, [as far as i can recall from my little grey cells]

Velden boats
I would agree Molinari boats were the best but i don`t agree Veldon boats were never in the same league` Cees built his own boat first one in 1975 and he raced it in South Africa and won with it ` he had now gone from Mercury back to OMC engines he raced his first sprint boat at Cardiff in 1975 and won the World Championship beating both Molinari 2nd and Hering 3rd with Mercury engines.1976/77 Molinari/Hering/Anderson left Mercury for OMC with Molinari now supplying boats to OMC in 1977.I do know Cees had Chris Hodges over in Holland helping with build quality issues and at the end of 1976/77 Garbrecht had Cees back in the Mercury camp to build boats for Mercury in Europe. The first boats for mercury didn`t run good enough and i was told Bill Seebold sent someone over to sort out the problems`now this is my opinion only that some of Cees boats were the same as Bill Seebolds and some ran with Seebold back cowls when Bill came over to race them it made sense for Garbrecht moneywise.1978/79 when the T4 Mercury engines came out i think bill used his own boats and Cees went back to OMC engines again and his boat design changed again from the Seebolds.

Willabee can tell you the correct tale of the Veldens and the Seebolds !!!!!!!!!!
Cees did the initial building for GG but they were falling to bits too easily .
Seebold was given the task of building team boats.
Leo would be a good guy to tell the story--------he worked with Cees and Billy.
Tons of lies, double dealings and skullduggery surround that period of Boat racing history !!!!!!!

If you are talking about the "camel back" rear cowl...and I think you are (Can't be sure with you in many cases), I have never seen one on anything but a Molinari pickle fork...I don't think they existed when the full tunnels were built.
The above hull came with both cowl styles but the straight one (shown) was more stable at speed. It was also one of the last T2x hulls that Mercury received from Molinari. Bobby raced it once and then was limited to Team T3 stuff only, so it got passed on to me basically brand new. It was set up to run with both V6 power and the inline and was the only hull of that group (Reggie's Miami Marine Stadium iconic back flipper and "Sutter's Gold" were the other 2, I believe) with inward canted sponsons and downforce on the forward deck. It arrived along with the final Moli T3 hulls just before Billy's hulls became the weapon of choice for black power.

This one (with a camel back) was Reggie's last T3 Molinari, and, after switching him to a Seebold, the boys at Oshkosh made a few "test changes". They angled the port sponson outward in the forward 6 feet, so that when you dropped the bow, it turned left with no wheel input....a disaster. We got it and rebuilt the sponson as God and Angelo originally intended and ran it at one event before Havasu where the other sponson bottom delaminated...

Here's the last Molinari I raced in.....very lightly used T3 hull (I think Billy tested it without actually seeing any competition..He was deep into his own boats by then) with a deep tunnel and steeper dihedral for rough water. It was a good 5 mph slower than Reggie's but rode much better.... in hindsight this is the hull we should have taken to Havasu that year. I also had a new sprint Seebold at that time and used this one for rougher races along the east coast...and for powerhead break in. I let a racer and friend who worked for me at Shadow run it at a local event. He flipped it right next to me ...and totaled it. We were gearing up for the 30' Shadow Cat production and had a complete boat plant building our 21 Challenger/ Shadows at that time, but "All the kings horses", couldn't fix that one.
