    Custom 20Ft Lake & Bay

I took a 1986 20Ft Lake & Bay, stripped it to bare fiberglass and started over. My wife refused to sit "Bitch" in the back seat so I made a mold and built a custom bucket seat for two in the front. One wider seat worked out much better than two individual seats because I can sit in the center when I am by myself.

The umbrella is awesome in the summer! Yes, it is designed so you can run with it up. It is made by Tuuci in Miami. http://www.tuuci.com/product/42/tuuci-shade-blade

Cool Rig dude!. Kind of unique in there's not another one out there quite like it. What are your numbers? (rpm at WOT, Top Speed, etc.).

Speeds range between 70mph loaded down with fuel and people to 86.2 mph light on fuel with just one person. The best prop so far has been a worked 28p Lightening ET which turned the 86.2mph at 6200 rpms. On the 250XS the rev limiter horn starts going off at 6150 and the rev limiter kicks in at 6300. I think when I figure out the right prop it can break 90mph.

Do you seem to need alot of positive trim to carry the bow -in other words, do you need alot of bow lift or does your boat have some natural bow lift? I take it it's a standard pad V?

I've been wanting to try a 28p. ET myself. My boat being a Tunnel V has alot of natural bow lift built in. My newest prop is a custom Ron Hill 4 Blade Over/Thru Cleaver I've only gotten to run once and even then not at WOT because I had fuel delivery issues that day. Any case -long story short my boat needs a little stern lift from the prop which is why big ear chopper types such as my Hyperdrive and Triton ( both by Hoss) and cleavers work best for me. I also have a Hydromotive "CR" Intimmidator Quad 4 I use for fishing. It's kind of a 'semi' cleaver design with good rake if you've never seen one. My Yammie Drag 4 is my "show off" prop for having sheer fun.

    Shadow

My bass ride is a 1986 Shadow 200vt (Tunnel-V). The Shadows are very fast, easy driving, fun bass boats and they fish very nice too. I love my Shadow, this is my second one. I'll never buy another bass boat.

Hey man thank's for the pic's. Heck of a nice looking boat! I thought yours and mine might be the same colors but yours is a lighter brighter blue and mine's some sort of dark blue/grey & gun metal metalflake with a slight red stripe along top and bottom.

Anyway you've a great looking boat that looks well taken care of. You and I do have the same year (1986) Shadows.

Thanks, yours is great looking ride too. It seems like the Shadow just like the Aly is always in style. They are definitely boats for the ages. Seems like if you're a Shadow guy or an Aly guy, you're one forever. Great boats!!!!!!

Agreed. I'll always have my Shadow. I may re-power, I'm hoping for the XB21 I want. But my Shadow will always be with me.

Hey, I installed that vent yesterday. Came out well. I think I got a faulty tube of 5200 though cuz it was awful runny. I hope the 5200 I have in my cauking gun tube I got for my jackplate replacement isn't this runny. If it is, I'll have a hard time with it. Here are a few pic's of it installed:Click image for larger version.

ID:	289064I plan to put a chrome vent cover over the exposed outlet and add a matching one to the other side for a bilge compartment vent. Think this will unstick me from the water? NOTE: sloppiness was due to the runny 5200 I was talking about. It was tacking hard this afternoon so it should be fully cured by tomorrow.

It will allow me to plane off quicker by stopping excessive bowrise due to the back end being 'stuck' to the water from suction. Most all the newer Shadows I've seen vent this notch with the rear livewell overflow. However, since mine is an early boat my rear livewell overflow comes out of the side of the boat near the waterline just behind the drivers seat leaving this hull notch unvented. That combined with three type 27's, 25 gallons of gas, and 475 lbs of looper hanging on the back made it hard to break over when taking off.

See, everything would go normally, and with enough throttle she'd snap your neck back. However I would accellerate to almost breaking over and it was like I was a dog running and hitting the end of the leash. It was like something was holding me from breaking over causing the bow to rise excessively lugging the motor. The vent will stop this by allowing air directly into the notch between the transom and the pad elimminating the suction that occurs allowing her to breakover quickly. It's a racers trick. Personally I would have preferred to place the outlet in my rear livewell. But if your Shadow's gas tank is mounted like mine is, you'll know why I couldn't. I hope that explains it a little bit anyway. Not all hulls need a vent. Some do though and mine is one of them.

Makes perfect sense. Mine with the BP or the Formula launches immediately but cavitates somewhat as it lays down, with a 28 chopper or a 30 yammie. With a stock 150-200hp it does seem to bog a little. That may be the problem. Thanks for the info.
