I did not realize that Progression is still building new 22's. There is one other manufacturer building a 21 SOB and that is Nordic. The bottom on there hull originates from Cyclone in Australia which Donat mentioned earlier in this thread is a proven rough water ski race hull down under. Tough to get a good picture of the Nordic 21 Crossfire ..........but below are a couple.

The Pad is 1.5 inch's wider, the pad is concave.... challenger is vee'd, the Tuff has transition in the pad, the strakes are totally different too. Pound for pound it is the fastest of the bunch. It has the most lift. Also on the construction front the only other company in there league is Progression.Every Tuff so far has been sold as a family boat, set up to carry weight. Rotorhead for example RARELY has less than 4 people in his boat. Add that his was the first one and they didn't know what to expect. It has not been changed since. ( in regurds to setback )Add that if you know anything about bottoms, you would know that a wider concave pad doesn't add bow lift, it adds stern lift...... which is required to get the boat to run better with todays heavier motors. This additional lift, also improves the boats ability to carry passenger and fuel weight. What it was intended to do. A byproduct of this lift is that the boat cleans off earlier, and has a more efficient cruse speed than the boats of old. Top end is uneffected once you are cleanly on the pad, but top end with lower HP motors is far greater than the old boat. Example: 87 mph with a 225 Evenrude, no low water pickup, 28 trophy on the rev limiter. They don't need the setback.
Oops....I stand corrected. I thought David and you meant bottom details within the same manufacturer. No doubt that Tuff, Bernico, Progression, and Nordic bottom designs are dramatically different.

The Tuff weight was an estimate on the Kevlar infused hull, and that was just the bare hull and deck, so use that for reference. It is no flyweight, I suspect it is 50-100 lbs lighter than a stock layup. I can't rememember it's exact weight, but is is somewhere in the 2300 lb range rigged with no fuel or anything else. For reference my challenger was 2460 lbs with dual batteries, it ran high 80's with a 300 pro max.

When you say 950lbs for the bare hull and deck, is that without a gas tank and rigging or is it rigged without a setback bracket and motor?

2300 lbs is the light kevlar version or stock?

Weight comparison should be done as bare hull Ready for Rigging, this way you are strictly comparing the weight of the manufacturers hull itself, which puts a vacume bagged 22 progression at 950 pounds, which is almost identical to the weight of a regular TUFF, even then the only proper way to compare the weights would be on the same scale, the same day, one right after the other.........
