this will go right to his head lol...
Expensive....you are exactly right about speed being expensive and so is quality....add to that an X or XS motor, labbed props....that's why there's not many anywhere. Unlike the unicorn though they do exist....and they are as fast as we say (at least it's not with a stock XR6 )...'08 SRV

The original question was fastest SOB, not best in rough water. A longer hull could be a better rough water boat than a Tuff 21. Even if you can't use most of the speed most of the time, it's still cool to have the fastest boat.

There is a Bernico with 300XS power for sale on the left coast right now. I'm not sure how they would compare with a Tuff as far as outright speed but they are an excellent rough water hull.

In my opinion the super light all white intimidator is too light to be fast....... going to be flighty, I know the guy who layed that boat up and he is even afraid of it

I am curious as to how light is super light?
The Kevlar 300xs powered tuff is about 950 lbs hull weight, it is stronger than its glass counterpart. All tuff's are infused construction, there are 2 with 300x's and the rest (11) have yamaha's and e-Tec's. there are tons of tuff 16's also... A super cool boat.2023 TUFF 25

what about an Ocke Mannefelt B23? Class 3C mono record holder at 94mph with a stock 200xs, race consistently in the 80s in some proper offshore water not lake chop

94MPH with a Gen 2 200XS (240HP) is pretty damn impressive. I wonder what that Ocke would do with a 300XS? I will say that the looks of the Bernico are a little easier on an "American" pair of eyes!

Your saying a new infused tuff with 300 power runs as well a challenger in snotty water yet has 20 more mph on the top end, I've come to learn there's a compromise between all out speed and rough water handling.... And weight and balance has a lot to do with that.
Theres dozens of videos of us long island guys running all types of water at all kinds of speeds, and clearly the heavier layed up hulls run better in snot
I guess the tuff is the mythical unicorn!
10 years since the creation of this hull and I have yet to see one running Rough water and all out speed

There's a few in Bermuda running 2.5 280s, hitting 90s in race conditions I believe. The 94 (average of 2 ways) was run as part of records week on Lake Coniston, so set up purely for top speed and impractical for 'everyday' use. Trying to find a decent pic of the canopied version, they're stunning! (but being biased I'd agree that the Bernico is nicer haha)

I hade two Challenger 21's, and know what they ran both in the rough and in the calm. I also might know a little about boat balance. Just because you can't figure out how to make a light boat run in the rough ( check the weight of the bernico), or figure out that the forward entry area on a tuff is the same as a challenger doesn't make it the unicorn.

It is called, lighter boats don't need the setback to make mph. Which doesn't offset the balance, the bottom is more efficient, and you add a ballast tank in the nose and now you have a very well balanced boat, that is fast, strong, and yet still very very capable in rough water.

Greg I'm not debating technology...stronger yet lighter, I'm all for that
But like everything else you need to sacrifice a bit of one thing to gain another.. Apparently tuff figured out a way around that theory
