Agree. People will see that color coming up upon them and then see nothing but tall boy V8 and transom. Unique 24 degree design, proven in rough water.

The new Tuff 20 is narrower, deeper and slightly longer than the Tuff 21/Challenger it replaces. It is going to be A LOT better in rough water than most of the boats on this list.
As for weight, it is built with modern materials and methods much like those in Europe. They are just as light as the Tuff's. What i find funny is how the west coast low dead rise resin buckets are assumed to be good riding boats.

Stock 280. stock limiter and a 3.0 gearcase which are slower than the 2.5 case.
There is SO much going on with the bottoms of the Tuff (and aero) that nobody is paying attention to. IT is NOT just as simple as putting a pad under that boat.

To my knowledge, no one has hung a 300R on one either, very exciting to see how it plays out, but theoretically, it should be just what I want. I will certainly keep everyone posted.

We've definitely paid attention and done several writeups on the Tuffs. I've talked to Mark and Thomas about them a lot. Great boats. I really like the narrow beam of the new designs. They do punch through the air better than the original 21.

Can't wait to see the 20 with less power, which is the ultimate efficiency test. I think a 175 ProXS would really run great on that and of course the 225 V6.

The 400R and 450R on the little boats is a joke to me. No way they handle well, and I don't see any numbers posted. I understand for ski racing they might need the power but recreationally it makes no sense and I doubt they're running well.

Remember, the Allison XB 2002 ran 99 MPH with a 175 Optimax.

The new Tuff looks killer and agree on the weight of the 400. With a Merc V6 with warranty Tuff 20 could be a game changer for sure.

Some of these boats wouldn't make it out of the inlet on an average day though. The ocean is the real rough water test.

Everyone has a different perception of rough water. Some of the boats mentioned ain't running here though.

No 15” factory mid adapted to the 3.0 case. 2.5 cases are getting hard to fine. Becoming a common modification

It's a lake boat, which is awesome. It couldn't possibly be better in rough water than most of the boats on the list. Maybe the list has changed. But a traditional class 7 / SOB, Progression, Velocity, Challenger etc. are solid in rough water. Boats like the Chaudron etc are much deeper V and are built for the ocean and racing.

It's not a knock, I love pad bottom rippers like the Tuff and Allison, they just aren't made for the open ocean though.

That statement is pure fiction. If you use the challenger 21 as reference, this is longer narrower and deeper, just because it’s fast doesn’t negate it from rough water.

LIGHT just means you have to be a better driver in the ruff, heavy is comfortable but slow. My 24 would be great I just have too much set back.
