I think the Bernico ran 103 with a 2.5 280. A 300XS would be very interesting. The earlier 21's were designed for 2.5's, then I think around 2010 they designed the 21 Xtreme model which was designed for the weight of the 300XS. The actual running surface of the hulls is 21'4" but the LOA of the boat is probably a foot more. Evidently a lot of unique testing goes into the Bernico. Here is an excerpt.......

High Powered Boat uses VBOX Marine for New Tests
A strip of canal with no speed restrictions was thevenue, last month, for extensive tests on the latest boat by Bernico Racing, designed to compete in the international championship. Taking placenear their Belgian headquarters, the team used a VBOX 20SL3 Marinesystem to test the effects a new hull design had on the speed and stabilityof the Bernico GTS. The system allowed boat engineers to undertakedetailed analysis of the effect of different propellers and hull trim flaps onperformance, with the three GPS antennas of the 20Hz datalogger giving aprecise measurement of the boat’s speed, trim, heel, and leeway angles.Additional signals including engine RPM, trim flap angles, and exhausttemperatures were recorded using a VBOX Mini Input Module. To give the engineersa graphic representation of the recorded data, Video VBOX was also put to use, with one camera pointing at the test canal ahead, and the other monitoring thedriver. View the video here, which showsthe boat reaching speeds approaching 150 kph

I heard 149 mph, but only with fuel tank removed and a half a pint of gas being fed by a hose coming from a solo cup

This thread has been really fun. I would be really curious to run a Bernico... What do they turn like? any quirks with that wierd step thing? Obviously there is extreme support for them, so they must be doing something right.

This video evidence of it running over 100mph is cool and all... But numerous credible witnesses works for me as well.....
For example... I know what my boat runs, but I don't care enough to put a camera in front of the gps whilst running. The guy who runs the site bears witness
to the intimidator running 107mph. The Tuff crew would have trouble claiming bullsh!t numbers up here (they have and do run with people here and we are infamous for calling shenanigans on nonsense...)... and they are definitely running 102-103. Not to mention the Tuff 28 that runs 95.5mph with a stock 525 Merc. which is also wildly impressive.

I think I will always have a soft spot for the Linder / Linder inspired boats.. And the Tuff is the pinacle of that. You really just need to see one... and run with one.

It's becoming very clear that I am swinging from Mr. Weigl's sac.

I for one have zero doubt that the Tuff 21 is running 102 as you boys say. As I have said when this started, there are two currently built boats that have broken the 100MPH mark with stock power and those are Tuff and Bernico. Ironically, neither of them use much setback to get to those speeds.

When I raced in it with the 130 Yam it was like a go-kart. Amazing cornering! Haven't pushed it hard with the E-TEC yet but it's been very impressive and responsive when I have chucked it into a turn. Looks like we're in for a spell of calm settled weather, but I'm off to France snowboarding for a week tomorrow so won't get to run it! Hopefully it's still flat when I get back and we can get on with testing and set up

By the way I don't think it was a 280 when the record was broken, it was a 2.5 Merc of some description but exact details vary depending on who you ask!

Wait a minute my fine foreign friend, are you saying that the power on the Bernico F2 was not stock? Or are you saying that it was stock and was a 300 Drag? This bench racer rodeo is specifically based on stock power! If it did 103.01 with some secret sauce, race fuel fed, one run and done, science class motor, then I will have to concede to the Tuff 21!
