It's amazing how close the 250R is to the 300XS in performance. The 250R is priced well, is a mechanical engine so rigging is easier. Underrated engine. A DTS 250 ProXS is even less money if you want a TM.

The 300R is definitely faster on most boats. One reason some of the SOB boats don't seem to perform better is partially setup but mostly the limitations of the boat itself. The 24 Progression with a 300R is about 5-6 MPH faster for example.

The SOB boats have too narrow of a pad and aren't aerodynamic enough to exceed certain limitations. That's why the fast boats, ie Tuff 24, Allison 21, Liberator etc see such a dramatic speed improvement with the R over the XS; they're capable of going faster.

Not saying there's anything wrong with the old style SOB boats, they're just old designs with limitations.

You are the US dealer for Chaudron. What is the best top speed they have seen on there 22 foot 24 degree ocean eater with a 300XS ?

The 27 has seen 86 with a 300 XS and a couple more with the R. No 300R 22 yet to report but will in the spring.

The Chaudron is more rough water oriented.

Your Chaudron Pro 22 above will be interesting to see run with a mighty V8 hung on the back. Bolt on a 450 and let it eat. No such thing as "to much" power.

Twins and even a Triple 2.5 have been done in the past on these smaller deep V style hulls and the designs took the weight and ponies.

The triples looks like a ski race boat. There's a law of diminishing returns, adding power and weight with marginal speed gains and poor handling, not always the best trade.

I'm sure some twin 2.5 boats run well,. But I like singles and with the new power, too heavy for twins.

Again, the 300R outperforms on most hulls and by a large margin. If not, it's usually the boat that is limiting it.

The 22 Chaudron should be good with the 300R, the 25 is amazing with the 300R. High 80s with a 30" Bravo FS out of the box. 90-92 with the right setup.
