I would say the fastest sob would be the trimout' s boat when herb owned it. The guy who built it goerge claims the boat was well under 800 lbs when it ran 106 mph, with that mercury 250 looking motor. All I have to say I remember hearing that wicked noise when it blew by u.

I think if the Nordic if it really has a 18* V needs to come off the list. This is definitely not a boat that would have a chance in class 7.

Well if the boat went 94 with an xs it should go 100 with an x with no problem, I'm guessing!!!! That's if my gps as the same as others attached is the quote I got right about that day in question.

I tried buying goneby's newer 22. I put 19k cash in kevins hand christmas week last year but he wanted 27k with no motor and no steering.

That's the key.......weight is so important. Making one very light and 'strong' to hold up to the abuse these boats get at high speeds and wave hopping/bounding. It's not easy.... every boat turns out different and keeps the dialing-in changes going on and on.

Yes doc u are correct. Weight is the mist important part of this. Setup and tuning will get u so far but weight is the contributing factor if you going to be one of the top dogs

Are you sure that weight is that critical? Rotorhead was over 100 with a Tuff/300X. His was an early boat and not light.

RotorHead was good enough to provide this detailed information early in this thread. I believe that Dirk Pitt indicated he was going to weigh his boat "all in" before season close so that would give a comparison to the 2280 lbs. Weight though is only a part of the equation at these high speeds. The decks contour and wind resistance overall matter a lot at 90+. Who has access to a wind tunnel.

Hi guys, nice thread. Much more polite than the ones we used to participate in, back in the day, years ago. Congratulations.

Just for information; my boat did run 102 mph with a 32 inch pitch Bravo prop, the handling was terrible. My everyday prop was a 28 inch pitch trophy it ran high 90s with any number of people on any day. As for the weight, I don't know what the blank boat weighed, I'm guessing 1200 pounds with just the floor and no rigging. I did weigh the boat one time with motor fuel and equipment just lifted it off the trailer as it was and the whole package weighed 2280 pounds.

And here is the work that Dirk Pitt did so far in understanding the true weight of his Tuff 21 ..........evidently 946 lbs on a scale.

Weighed boat -946 lbs, we think the boat weighs less because of all carbon fiber we found in the boat, but lets use 1000lbs as the bench mark, Mcknight remembers Tuff telling him around 1100lbs which would make sense with the interior in, ok tommorow we hang the WHITE motor. Once the boat is totally rigged I will weigh it, i think that is the most important weight anyway, just to do it Im going to weigh the motor seperatly
