Wildman throws the dice all the time... In addition to all the money he lays out for rigging
And paint. He has a ton of time invested in each... But they do sell.Formula 260ss 496HO

Mr. P ...... I would have a hard time turning down 35 cash for my 22 progression with a brand new 300xs on it, I have more fun building them then keeping them..... And I absolutely love my boat

I completely understand. I have hit the point of what would be next though. If you sold then what? You would do it all over again.
Wildman certainly does throw down the dice but I think he had a different market in FL and I would wager most of his customer are not the live/breath/die outboard fans that we are. I picture the guy with the 21 checkmate 300xs combo owner as someone with money that wants to look cool at the sandbar. I could be wrong.

If the market was there, Daris would finish the new Grandsport and might be the best overall, especially with the least horsepower.

I find this statement above funny after all your other postings;
How much do you think it would cost to build a 21' 6 or 7' beam today? Then add a 150, rigging, steering and trailer. Basically bare bones build.
Keep in mind if you want to build something that will be marketable and fill someones desire in today's market you better build something good, innovative, with good quality materials, make sure it will hold up, put some decent rigging hardware, and a 150 not sure that would even be a consideration...... Guys in the 21' boat market are looking for 300+ hp.
I'm done, we all have our own opinion!

I only partially agree. Nordic's 21 is a new bottom design, as is the Sutphen and Bernico. As you say, Progression designed a brand new bottom, and it seems like Tuff made some very substantial design updates to the Tuff 21's bottom. Budget is not what started this thread, hell, you can't bench race on a budget! The real question is which hull is fastest across a wide range of conditions, from snotty to smooth. Race the (5) new $75k boats in the Scream+Fly 'round Manhattan Cup, against all the 10 year old+ white whales, and see who wins. Full tank of 93-$200 ...... Labbed Prop-$400 ...... Winning The White Whale Challenge - Priceless
Tuff 21 hull 950lbs – 20’8” Long, 7’7” Beam (Confirmed 100MPH)
Progression 22 hull 948lbs – 22’1” Long, 7’8” Beam
Bernico F2 21 hull 705lbs– 21’4” Long, 6’3” Beam (Confirmed 100MPH)
Nordic Crossfire 21 hull N/A– 21’ Long, 7’1” Beam
Sutphen 21 SS hull N/A –20’9” Long, 7’2” Beam

My logic behind that thought was to think of something to help get the price down of SOB boats. I think that the bottom line of why new SOB's are not selling is simply the cost. I know that I would certainly be looking at a new boat if you could get the cost in mid 20s/low 30s. The main driving factor (1/3 the cost) is the price of outboard engines. A brand new 150hp outboard can be had for around $10k. If you look at single outboard racing all of over the world, you will see that they are going smaller. My thought is that a 20ft hull specifically built for smaller power may change the market. It has else where. That was my train of thought. We are all entitled to our own opinions.
