Great shot of the Labsport 21 GTR hull bottom. 22 degree pad bottom V that runs stainless steel inserts on the pad bevel. Also has electric drop down ballast tank fill. 40 gallons in the bow fills in 1 minute and empties in 30 seconds. Hull designed from scratch "down under" and now yet another one is here in the US. Have to appreciate shops like Labsport and Tuff and others for designing new stuff in the SOB range. Labsport routinely cranks it in rough water (with photos) and sometimes in air only. Running 96 mph with the 300R V8.

The old Tuff 21 (22 degree deadrise and 7'7" beam) weighed 946 lbs (bare hull) and the old Tuff 21 that set "The List" record of 105 weighed 890 lbs.
I'd bet that the Tuff 20 demo boat is 800 lbs or less given there design changes. Should be a great match with the new 3.4 V6 for sure.

You seem to get so offended by the suggestion that the boat may not be the best in rough water, which in fact it isn't by design. Mark and Thomas would say as much. Sure, they could build it heavier, changing the dynamics of the hull, now it wouldn't be nearly as fast but be better in rough water, depending on the weight dynamics.
As most of the Tuff's sit, they are exceptional straight line performers, design with tons of rear bias CG, huge notch, wide pad, ultra light etc. That's great, I actually love that.
But, a Chaudron 22 or a Nitra 22 will destroy every boat on here in rough water and it's not even close. The reason? They have 24 and 26 degree deadrise, 6' and 5.5' beams, and run flatter, with more running surface. It's just physics. You don't have to take it personally. The Chaudron and especially the Nitra have shortcomings with their designs too, they will never be the fastest. The Nitra is so narrow and the deadrise is so steep that it will roll on its side easily and have weird handling, it's a tiny boat and barely goes over 90 with a 300R. The Chaudron is only slightly faster and has a less extreme design and is more in the middle.
Personally, I'm more of a lake boat guy and I love the Allisons and Tuffs. Obviously the Tuff 20 is bigger than a SS, GS or XR Allison. But the Allisons and Tuffs on a lake, even with a little lake chop will be vastly faster than the Nitra, Chaudron, Progression and OG Challenger, obviously.
Simply believing a hull is the fastest and also the best in rough water, defies physics and is not true. Is it possible a heavier Tuff 20 can compete with some of the boats on the list, maybe, but that would change the dynamics drastically from the design.

I’m offended by ignorance.
All things being equal, a challenger 21 vs a Tuff 21 equal weight same setup is a dead heat. The Tuff 20 with mass added to equal the above 21 will be better. To your point deeper vee and narrower/longer. What people are forgetting is this thread is about the fastest, Tuff 24 is the far and away winner. The 20 is second. As mentioned, mark and Thomas set up for lake running, that’s not to say the design won’t run in the rough.
I do agree that Nitra and Chaudron being deeper and narrower will eat the entire list in the ocean, not the question that started this thread.
further, only the Nitra and Chaudron, (they are just as light as Tuff) are building modern laminate boats. Badass, the rest are resin buckets. (Progression, is in the middle as far as laminate)
I feel like this thread is like watching CNN2023 TUFF 25

RBT and Blacktruck, I enjoyed both your posts, you both sort of said the same things, no need for name calling, lets leave that for the FB losers. Yes this is about the fastest SOB but, in what conditions so I think it's all relative. Thank you both.

We're basically saying the same thing, lol. Although the Challenger would be slower, because of the pad width and notch even if they weighed the same. (lift / CG)
But generally SOB is like Class 7, up to 22' Arbitrary as it might be. If the rules are broken, then ya the Allison XR is easily the fastest, then maybe the 20 Tuff.
If you've never run in the ocean, I don't think you'd understand how different it is.
I'm not the biggest Progression fan but for a hull that can run in the rough, it is also very fast. It might be dated looking but might be among the best all around in all conditions given the constraints, or maybe the Chaudron. A Chaudron 22 weighs 1,700 lbs without power. So more than double the weight of a Tuff 20?
It's all good. The "who would win in a fight Bruce Lee or Spiderman" arguments are really lame. Just get on the water and enjoy.
