A 690Lb engine on a 21-22' boat is not a rough water setup. That is a mess waiting to happen. The engine height on the Pro22 & Bullet is a recipe for damage.....JMPO!
Also the water conditions in that Force (only one running) does not look rough to me.
    All good info though!

    Dethrone? Huh?

Just saying that the 21 Tuff is no longer produced. It is still the fastest of the 21-24's and probably will be for a long while IMO. 106mph is incredible.

For the first few years of this thread before you were around no one believed that the Tuff 21 was legit btw.

This thread is one of the reasons I purchased a Tuff 24. I wanted a river boat that would rip, and a lake boat that could handle some chop. I got both, and would welcome any boat on this thread to race through 2-3ft waves and get a good view of my 300xs. I know everyone says they never seen one run in the ruff so its not capable but it is every bit as capable. Its a light boat and it will take more then the driver can, just like any good light race boat.

I wish we were not limited to 21' 4" in our Water Ski race F-2 class I would love to run a 24 Tuff Someday.

Do you have a Ballast tank?. I Have 40 gallons built in the nose it fills in a minute and pumps out in 30 seconds.
It lets you run through the rough stuff without trimming all the way in.
Its a must for Catalina Race we Had a good run this year 1st small Boat 4th overall.Click image for larger version.

    The 24 Tuff is faster.

Ahh yes, Winter is here. First cup of coffee so bear with me.

I'm glad this thread helped with your purchase, but IMO you are wrong, please go to page 1 and read posts 1-10, not just 1. 24'9" is to long. Tuff 21 is King.

Quick data point. There are 1380 photos in this thread that the S&F Elders have inserted over 9 years. Don't shoot the messenger but there is not 1 photo of the Tuff in rough water conditions. The Elders say take your hull to the Great Lakes and have a ball with the camera. I have no doubt what it may do there.

Does yours have a ballast tank set up?

Of course it is. It weighs less, has less free board, a narrower beam, a wider pad, and a 2' notch. MW figured out the hot rod formula for the lakes.
At least that is what he seems to be saying in the article below according to a certain reporter. Interesting to read his perspective.

Also of interest is that Allison's V is far faster (at 129 mph) than the Tuff 25 but the Allison also does not "fit" into the spirit of this thread.

Time for someone to start a new thread, "Fastest V bottoms 25' - 27' with a Single Outboard".

I know two guys who would do a great job writing it and two boats that would be perfect to start it out

Just by the look at that picture the Tuff is much lighter and probably faster. Mark @ Tuff builds an awesome boat, second to none in my opinion.
But the Fusion may probably be better in the rough.
I say buy your boat and setup according to the waters you run would be my advice there.
Also they need to do a comparison in both water conditions for all boats tested to be fair and get an accurate report.

Word is that the new Tuff is going to actually be 21' exactly. Will there be a new King in 2022? Maybe with a V6 200 APX on the back. Boom!

Your bias is so painfully blatant. Add that you like to spread misinformation.
Now if anyone thinks the challenger 21 is a poor offshore boat you can stop reading here. The Tuff 24 has a deeper vee, is narrower, longer, and deeper than the 21. Add that it has a ballast tank. 110 with a 300r out of the box. Now, to be clear the chauldron is narrower and has a deeper vee, I would never pretend to think the Tuff rode like they will. But reality is NONE on the current list can touch the Tuff 24 in ANY conditions
    now back to CNN
