Thread: Fastest SOB hull???

It's a lake boat, which is awesome. It couldn't possibly be better in rough water than most of the boats on the list. Maybe the list has changed. But a traditional class 7 / SOB, Progression, Velocity, Challenger etc. are solid in rough water. Boats like the Chaudron etc are much deeper V and are built for the ocean and racing.
It's not a knock, I love pad bottom rippers like the Tuff and Allison, they just aren't made for the open ocean though.

LIGHT just means you have to be a better driver in the ruff, heavy is comfortable but slow. My 24 would be great I just have too much set back.

A Tuff is a completely different animal in waves then a 20’ Allison. I have driven a GS and a 21 Tuff. I own an SS2000.

Love Tuff boats but it’s not really designed as a rough water King……
Quote from Mark Weigl……
”We could make a rough water wave killer Vee bottom but why? There are lots of them out there, so we seem to be in the “worlds fastest in category” game of Vee bottoms.

I think length is the biggest factor! I am not a professional offshore racer so I will not be wave jumping 4-8ft waves in the ocean in something less then 35' in length lol.
Being this thread is completely subjective with very few people sampling all of these boats, maybe it should just go to the one with the most class wins?Last edited by hellbents-10; 07-01-2022 at 07:05 AM.

Quote from Thomas Weigl on Facebook last week: "Derek Gander every boat is custom built for the customers boating needs and environment if you need it to pound waves will build it to do that if you run rivers will build it to do that"

What I'd like to know is why are they calling it a "20," when it's 21'10" long?

The SS2000 is 18’9” centerline and it’s a ‘20’, LOL
Do you count the side transom extensions?
