More room in the Bullet. I bought a 20ftXD new in 97 for the purpose of lake use with the kids and hot rodding around. It never cought a fish while i had it for 5 years. No troll motor either. Great boat and i still miss it. best tube puller in the world with the ski tow where the rear fishing seat goes. It went undefeted against all tubers.

That Varmit is a little outdated but could be fun as well. great boat in the 80`s.

The Varmit is a fun go fast boat but every fisherman I ever saw that knew the boats hated them. The Varmit is basically a Vector with the transom cut down (yes it is several inches shorter than the Vector) and a different deck. I cant remember if the pad has the Vector's wedge. Like a Vector they do not have very good manners as a recreational ski or tube boat. I would go with the Bullet.

I say Bullet... The Bullets will rot if left uncared for and unsealed, but Hydrostreams were built with rotten wood.. The bullet will have far more room, better build quality, and a better ride, and better most everything else other than acceleration... Just do a thorough investigation of the hulls before buying to know what you are getting...

Imo, a nicely kept bullet without a goofy color scheme is pretty near as good looking bassboat as has ever been..

Unless you're getting the Hydrostream for free or close and plan to redo it, get the Bullet. I love Hydrostreams but am also realistic.

As far as room goes, I've done my best to make my Vector a lake boat, and it's TIGHT to say the least. I did the best I could with what I had. After my recent project purchase the plan will be to turn my Vector back into something more race than lake.

varmints are very tight for 2 to fish from, we have a few bass tourneys each year where they have a hourly weigh in and it pays $500/hr for big fish, i fish it alone, and the varmint is perfect for that, you travel lite, and with a 101lb minnkota on the bow she rips thru the thick salad, then flies back to the weigh in dock. In an all day normal tourney I have a 21' shadow tunnel which is a huge platform that can get down the lake too, but for a family ski/fun boat i'd get a bullet.
