Wink Winter Project : Old Allison

I once heard someone say you can't polish a turd - we'll I'm going to try!

    Project: 78 Allison XTB Bassboat
    Codename: Money Pit

This is another one of the boats that has been at the shop for probably 10-15+ years and is in need of some love. ( Or some lighter fluid..)

The boat is in bad shape as the following pictures will show.
The floor is soft but it did have some transom & stiff knee work done approx 6 years ago. (They glassed the kleggcell in place but didn't finish it.)

I dumped the boat on the ground so I can start on the trailor first.

    More to come...

I decided to haul this back to the house for some evening playtime.....
I got 2 miles from home & the drivers tire blew out. And no I didn't stop.

For stock Allison hardware contact Allison or you might check a West Marine catalog.

    Talking THANKS

    CDave - will do...

CP - No merc here either!

T-Rex - Thanks. I'll get you some pictures as the progress continues...

I have a slew of Ideas for it but, it will be a "change" project. I'm going to make it nice but not going to spend major bills on it. I haven't figured out an easy way to uncap it yet. Most of the compartments are glassed in with the bottom so I will need to cut all of it loose....

I started the trailor destruction earlier this evening. Every bolt has to be cut off due to the rust & of course I only had 2 cut off wheels. So I'll get back started on it tommorow. The bunks were actually in good shape other than carpet. I scrapped them anyway. I figure make it good now whlie it's not a problem...

Michael, You got me wanting to restore my old Glastron HPV175. It was my first boat I bought and I still have it. Rotted out transom and all.

    Thumbs up Why not?

Go for it. When your working on stuff like this, you can't screw it up worse. Its already scrap.

Just start slow and simple & the wife/girlfriend wont bitch about the money or the time you spend on it. (or maybe yall don't have that problem...)

I dont need the allison. Got toys now but I hated to see it going to **** any longer.
