With the limited deck and cockpit space, the gps antenna will be mounted under the deck. Epoxied some wooden pads to screw the antenna base to. I think it will be better than the adhesive tape they provided with the kit and keeps things serviceable. Since the deck is inverted, went ahead and cut out the splashwell for the lower jackplate bolts.

Should look good around the new 2" stainless steel tube adaptors I got off this site. The boat is going to be painted orange/white, hence the orange tubing.

Wow, Jackplate does look very nice. I have a feeling my hydraulic one has quit on me. Only problem is mine is a 3" plate, not sure I want a 6" plate.

Picked this up on the site for my Merc. Needed a little work, so it was priced right, especially knowing the snout that got cut off wasn't discarded.

Welded the snout back on to the mid to "tone" it down a bit. Now waiting on some zinc chromate and some phantom black paint.

Still progressing on the Viper. Getting the dash components all mocked up before reattaching the deck to the hull. Almost have the inner hull sanded and ready for paint too.

While waiting for paint for the mid, decided to mock it up on the transom and check the propshaft/jackplate heights. The swivel bracket is mounted to the jackplate at the second holes from the bottom. With the propshaft level with the pad, there's still 1.5" of upward travel and 2.5" of downward travel.

Lookin good! Looks like that extra tall transom really helped with engine height.

Cav plate extensions can put a lot of leverage on the cav plate. If they are too strong the casting can crack. Better to have the plate light enough that it bends if loaded too much. 1/4 inch is more than enough. We have been making larger plates than yours for a long time and we only use 1/8 aluminium. I have seen the casting crack from a ski rope caught in the prop and pulling against the drag plate. I got a 1/2 inch parasailing rope around the prop once, with a 1/8 plate and it just bent the plate. Hey... 13000 flights, sooner or lately your going to run over the rope ... lol. From staff getting their jollies jumping waves. And from staff backing into the garage and bumping the back wall.

I meant to say 3/16th, but you make a good point. I'll go with the 1/8th. Thanks for the tip!

You are welcome . I thought 3/8 was a bit of overkill I hope you are going to post some video when she hits the water. I have been following your rebuild and you are going to have a very unique boat.
