All the "chassis" work is completed. Finishing up by added some additional cloth/resin on the sides of the chine where you would step into the hull. After that will be the sanding process again and paint. There will be about 3" of the top edge left unpainted for glassing the deck back on.

Found another advantage to splitting the deck/hull apart. While working on the foot throttle, tucked under the steering and dash, kept banging my back and head. Realized all I had to do was move the deck forward to get better access. I'm a regular student at the school-of-hard-knocks...

Needed to figure out the throttle and shifter cable lengths, so the engine was mocked up to get the prop shaft near the pad. Got it fairly close and checked to see if there would be enough travel in the jackplate to get the prop shaft high enough. Sure glad there was additional height added to the motorboard as there will be no problem getting above the pad.

Laid out the routing for the throttle and shifter cables. Glassing in some looms to run them through along the outer stringer. Wouldn't want anyone to get a foot caught up if they decided to bail out of the hull. Pair of 2" holes were cut into the splashwell also and have a set of 2" tube adapters on their way

I really enjoy looking and reading your build thread. I got a couple ideas from it, too bad it was a little late. Lol. I'm wishing i would have built my transom higher like yours cause i think its going to be difficult to get my pro shaft high enough on my ventura.

One of the Merc cables that I had worked out for the throttle. Looking for another that measures 10ft. between the two 3/4" barrel fittings at each end. Anybody have one their not using? It will be used for the shifter cable as it sets back further.

Glad to share the experience. I have a 73 Vega drag car that I have been building and a mentor explained to me that you build the car, then take it apart, then do the finish work, then put it all back together, then go and test it. I'm taking the same approach with this build.

Received the 2" hose adapters today and got them mocked up. Measured what length of hose was needed and will start looking. A while back, someone posted a link to a site that had a lot of different colors of hose. Couldn't find it when 2" flexible hose/tubing was googled.

When a question was asked about cleats of a Viper, it was mentioned to install them in the splashwell. That's where they went and decided to use the "wrap" type versus a "T" type. One less thing to get hung up on if quickly exiting the boat! Mocked up the light/base so wiring can be laid out.

Found these multi purpose rod holders in the sporting goods dept. Made some wooden bulkheads to glass along the right and left inside chines. They will be located near the drivers seat, paddle and push/pull pole on one side and the rear light post on the other. The Velcro wraps make for quick & easy access.
