Finished the bottom of the Viper this week. All ready to turn back over and on the trailer so I can get the deck painted. Getting closer!

Man that bottom was rough! Not now tho. Great job. I see the short Merc is sitting at the ready. Love those wheels.

Thanks DB, the bottom is pretty true now and expect it will help in handling. The Merc is still at 20" but will get shortened at some point. Now that I'm winding down on the hull work, the motor work will begin. This will be my first V6 engine to mess with. Looking forward to the learning curve...

Im in Deerfield, about 20 minutes from Dundee. I would be honored if you came by and supervised. From my research, you seem to be a wealth of knowledge regarding the Viper hull. I was very disappointed that I missed you at Mark Sutters last month.

If I were to do one of these again I think I'll try to extend the sharp bow V (pic DSCF5005.jpg) back 2- 2 1/2 feet and incorporate a small step. That flat section between the sharp bow deadrise and the pad is awful.

What's awful about it? I'm assuming it's a quick transition from there to getting on the pad.

The "pencil roll"? Had it on there and then ground it off. I figured I better wait and see if I needed it first. Would be very easy to add on after, if it's needed.
