    2003 115 four stroke water in oil

    Picked up a 2003 4 stroke 115h.p....Has water in the oil..pulled therm and that is ok...Used to having 2 strokes so anyone have any ideas...thinking maybe power head base gasket...all opinions greatly appreciated...

    Powerhead bolts probably are loose. Common problem as is thermostat stuck open not letting it heat up properly.

    Thanks...heard about the therm problem especially in salt water which this motor was used but therm is ok....motor looks cherry and compression is perfect...picked it up cheap and was hoping not a head...dual overhead cams look to be challenging......

    Ive encountered quite a few of these with water in the oil... Most commercial saltwater engines that never get flushed...
    Pull the plugs, if any have water traces, usually the head is corroded... and more than likely on no.4..
    if plugs look good, oil pump may be the problem...
    The DOHC arent that challenging... but you ll need Torx for the head bolts..

    Seal on the oil pump have to replace the pump can't replace just the seal

    Thanks Guys...need to make a stand and will pull the power head first....how do you tell the seal on the pump let go...trying to not have to pull the head..LOL
