Straight skeg CLE okay to use single engine application?
Guys is there any reason why a straight skeg lower shouldn't be used in a single engine application? My research tells me that straight skeg lowers were designed for multi engine applications. I recently had a coned 200 case crack on my STV. I have a right hand straight skeg CLE available. Any know problem with using the straight CLE on my STV? Pete

no if you have hydraulic steering its probably faster then a tabbed swept skegg look at the lowers on the super fast stvs

Texas20225, thanks for the input. I hadn't looked very closely at other STV setups but I will now. Pete

wouldn't crabbing be a problem with a straight skeg?

We have run a straight skeg Sportmaster. It was no good. Lots of torque on the wheel, and you always ended up going in a curve rather than straight. I assume it increased the risk of blow-out, too.
We changed to a tabbed swept one.Markus' Performance Boating Links:

What about if he has hydraulic steering? My 19' Daytona has a straight skeg CLE with hydraulic steering and it does not have any torque steer to it. But at part throttle it does have what i believe you guys call "crabbing" but i just throttle through it.
