    optimax compressor rebuild?

Our 250xs compressor is fine now,but its something id like to address before it lets loos.I know theres a newer version available that is supposed to be better.Im just wondering if anyone has had any success rebuilding the stock one.It doesnt look to be that involved.I replaced all the o-rings this summer and took a peek inside. What exactly is the flaw in these and could I a guy do anything to improve it.I have a neighbor that does blueprinting. Is this something anyones tried.

they are easy to rebuild if you have anything left. most blow up to beyond rebuilding. the most common issue for failure is not cleaning the water screen to the compressor and not changing the oil filters every year resulting in compressor overheats and failures .

Between air intake and under part of the flywheel on the VST's side. You'd have to unplug tps linkage. 2 small white filters (not same filter as the white one going to the motor) make sure you pay attention to the arrows of the new white filters as the new ones I bought had the arrows in different directions to the stock ones...

new compressure has two bearings to hold the cranks shaft Vs one for the original. they also added a stud to provide additional
    laterial support.

The orginal design breaks at top mounting flange

If you have the old compressor you cannot use the new cap and bearing assembly and have to buy the new compressor. However Mercury now sells all the parts separately for the new compressor.

on the port side of the mid section you have to take the port pan off and it is an integreated nipple and screen that is to be unscrewed and clean follow the water hose from the compressor to it
