    18' Action Marine Restoration Project

I just Brought home my Winter project. It is a 1986 18' Action Marine restoration that was started but gave up on. The transom & Floor & additional knees have been done but that is it. I am planning on putting a slightly modified 200 merc with a 15" offshore mid. The fun begins.

Interesting mod done to the well! Is the upright brace missing under the bow? Working on one right now myself. What are you repainting with?

I am not that familiar with the boat on how it was built. I am not sure if a brace is missing or not. There is no brace there & it looks there was never on there, but the floor was replaced & it is solid. I am not sure what I am doing about paint yet. What model are you working on? Do you have a picture of the Fuel tank? I am thinking about putting the fuel tank in the stern & putting the battery under the bow. I am still in thinking stage on what to do.

Good luck with the project. I wouldnt put the battery in the bow. Most actions have a battery box reccessed into the floor in the center just aft of that rear seat stringer you have. It would be half way under the floor and infront of your fuel tank. I have a 20 action in that same condition just trying to save the funds to get moving on it.

Ill be damned Craig, sorry I missed you. I must've been at my little guys soccer game. I've got my boat back but haven't run her yet. Hopefully soon.

I am working on a 1989 18', and also owned an '83 18'. My brace was also out on the '89, but I replaced it when I did the floor. The tank is in the stern between the transom knees and allows for battery placement to the port side of the tank. If I used a larger tank, I would mount it on center, in front of the tank. I agree with Hotshot on not putting the battery in the bow. Long cables have more voltage drop, and you don't want the weight up there, not to mention the pounding.Click image for larger version.

Cool that you did that. First one I've seen but goes well on the hull! If it had been available in '83, I would've had to have it.

What size gas tank did you put in the boat, It seems to be a lower deck. there is only 9 3/4 inches clearance between the floor & top deck. Do you recommend reinstalling a support for the deck? I walked on the deck & it seemed pretty solid without a support.
