thanks, being carefull not to add to much weight, but i figure and extra 25 or so lbs. Means never having to worry. 12" of setback and 500 lbs of motor. Finished glassing in the center pod knee tonite just in time for the debate!!!!

thanks, hey xstream, had a question for you. What material did you use to fill in your splash well? Thought i read your rebuild carefully, but don't recall if you used composite board to span the gap or not. Also, i saved the transon cap, it has an i.d. Of 2", transom is now approx. 2.5". How would you reinstall that cap with the idea of the splash well being eliminated? Thanks again.............john

I made a panel out of bi ply and divinnycell HPL-80 core. Glassed it inside and out. Glassed that pc to the boat with some bi-ply tabbing. Blended it in with with some torn matt to finish grind. Make the filler/deck panel just short of the transom and lay glass under side first, then lay glass over the top all the way around. V out the seam and glass with bi ply and matt.

.........Thanks, do i recall correctly you layed up that panel on a sheet of what (?). after this sheet of hpl-80 and glass has set up, will it have enough flex to match the contour of the forward side of the well? not alot of bend. obviosly transom is flat. would a pic help? when you say bi-ply, you are refering to 1708 right? thanks again!!

Make a mold that has the correct bend on it. Make any shape changes on it you need, The part will hold the shape after pulling it off the mold. Core will not let it move at all.. I used melamine board over a 2x4 frame. Wax it up and lay up some glass, bed dn core and cover the foam with glass.

1/2'' - 3/4'' any size will do. Any type of core will do. It could be scrimmed and scored too, if it needed to bend very much.

Update, finished up glassing in the knees and building battery mount pads. Had to support the sides of the hull with a strap as hull had relaxed about 1/2". Got the deck lined up with temp wood supports and deck screws to hold it all together. Added 2 layers of 1708, in staggered widths and lengths at underside of deck at transon. Also same along hull joint " its a butt joint" so no margin for error. Ground out a v at the cut line 4" wide almost to the 1708 on the underside. Again wetted out random length and width 1708 and filled in the v out area a little above grade of original gel. Will grind smooth tonite. So far so good, looking forward to moving on to bulkheads and sponson/deck supports. Thank you all!!!
