I've run Carlisle only because they came on the trailer, had Duro on my 5th wheel camper that are absolutely junk, came apart after less than 5000 miles, tread separated from casing. Right now I am running Goodyear Marathons, only have 3500 miles on them on the 5th wheel, but so far so good.

Put a set of power king towmax tires on my tandem trailer. Run them at 70+ mph for 1-2 hrs at a time and no problems.Priced good. Made in the U.S.A. Used to run the denman tires made in mexico, until they dry rotted. They were good tires, but wanted some made in the US tires. Chinese tires are the worst, stay away, or get used to changing tires on the side of the road.

Trailer tires are notoriously junk, and very few last worth a flip before crapping out early... Use light truck/car tires, just make your the tire is rated for the weight it'll be carrying by a comfortable margin(I'm captain obvious, I know)...

My Marathons are 10 years old now and no plans to replace them. Many of my friends who dislike the Marathon, went to Kuhmo. They have a load range D tire available. I have the original Armstrongs (NLA) on my 1986 pop-up camper, still looking good.

Hey electricjohn--
Be aware--at 10 years old, tires are considered unsafe due to aging of the rubber regardless of miles. You are really looking for trouble on your 1986 tires, and were it me I would repalce the 10 year old Marathons.
Though I got to admit--hard to tell you to replace 10 year old tires when you are still scucessfully running 26 year old tires.Last edited by Li'l Toy; 11-16-2012 at 11:14 PM. Reason: go to admit...

If you keep the speed down to 60 or so, tires will not blow out nearly as often. It's the speed that heats them up and kills them. I too am capt obvious....
