After replacing 3 driveshafts I had Charlie go to a Speedisleeve. He said it was a pain to install but ended up very good.

Robert's Machine can plasma spray that area or the whole waterpump keyway area. Had mine done by him 2 years ago, looks like new when he is done. Very hard surface and has a high nickle content. Will never rust again. Not even if used in salt water! The 2 seals on the pump base do not even scratch his coating he applies.

Price was $200.00 for the whole area or just the seal area was $150.00. Compare to a new drive shaft! Rember you are still putting a repair sleeve orver a area that is still continuing to rust...

Years ago some of the local air conditioning compressor rebuild shops tried to plasma spray scored journals on some of the highly stressed crankshafts like the Trane 100 HP 5E88s and they would snap due to losing their heat treating during the plasma spray. Supposedly the 2.5 Merc shafts on the HP engines are highly stressed hi-speed steel too and could not be made from stainless steel....Just like the prop shafts.

welding on the shaft its high tensil steel thats nickel plated u tell me what

will happen to it hho3 bullet actually has 2 on his. speedy sleeve is a really pretty good fix! surface must be really clean on the grooved /rusted out area because you must put some hardening epoxy on it and smooth it off very carefully BEFORE you slide the sleeve in place with some non hardening epoxy under it it must be sealed underneath or the water will run under it i have installed quite a few of these things they still are holding, i have not heard of one shaft that failed in all that i installed they cost around 34.00 each

    thats it

i bought mine from a company called Motion Industries but i have also picked some up at a bearing chain supply house you have the correct number it easier out of the case because of all the sanding you have to do plus the pre-clean up. if you have a bead blaster with some heavier media thats the best it sticks really good to it( epoxy). get yourself a piece of CPVC the hot water plastic pipe its perfect for pushing the sleeve to the right spot. as slick as your stuff looks you can do it with your eyes shut

would not advise installing without removing drive shaft
them little buggers go on snug ,i used 24 inch tubing from snow rake
same size as little tube that comes with ,20 min of light tapping to get
her home with that much tapping you would cause damage to bearings or gears
    my thoughts .

i use the cpvc pipe its just right size and plastic its not bad after you get the first 2 or 3 behind you, you can get little more aggressive with it i put one on a few days ago 1 1/2 hours tops ,case off, shaft out, sleeved, back in back on mota. what used to scare me was tearing the small flange off the sleeve
