Watch on ebay alot of boat shops that rebuild lower units put them on there. If u just look at lower units find one that is put on there by a boat shop and contact them and see what they have. Found alot of hard to find parts like that.

Some guys have used new units by SEI that sell for ~1000$ w/ warranty. You can also find factory used ones on Ebay and Craigslist..

Do you know if the SEI will last or will I have to replace it every 6 months?

The 99 225 I had a while back on my bearfoot has a SEI lower unit on it. It was great and is still running to date. It was a brand new unit when I bought the motor used and it has outlasted 2 power heads. So I would say they are pretty good units. No problems here. Plus they have a good waranty on them if I am not mistaken. Good luck....
