RTV won't hold the cylinder pressures generated by the combustion.
It's made to seal water passages, oil, etc.. NOT a cylinder. You need that steel ring to hold the pressure or else you'll blow the seal real quick.

You can not use rtv to replace the o rings but you can use it to replace the spaghetti gasket. Lots of folks doing it. I dont know if they have them up there but i get my plugs from napa here. Cheapest ive found anywhere. And theres no steel in 3 litre head gaskets
Why does everyone keep calling me Richard Noggin?? My name is George!

Yes. As a matter of fact, why would you "waste" the money on the sketti o-rings in the first place. OMC's been doin that from the factory .. for years.
Now if your really in a pinch, you can take out the "viton {florocarbon} rubber" compression o-rings out. Put a small smear of RTV in the groove, put the o-ring back in up side down and go again ...

I wouldnt give ya .40c for a Chumpion sparkplug. I only use NGK BR8HS plugs in a three litre. If yur feeling guilty about only spending $1.90 a plug. NGK offers a plug with a center wire electrode made from unobtanium . Got some x's or z's in the BR8 part number if I remember correctly ..

I wouldn't put Champions in my lawn mower but I would give them to my competitor.

we use br8hs or br8hs10's all the time, gap them to .028 and go. you can use rtv on the outer perimeter of the head, just clean everything w/ brakecleen and you'll be fine

with these ngk plugs, do u use them on the 300x motors? do u loose any horsepower or mph? the crossreference in ngk for the champions are expensive too. jus cant believe u guys are using the ngk $2 plugs and i am spending $8 on a plug.
