I just voted. My Gran Prix with Mod U Engine. We will be running a modified 2.5 powerhead provided by my crew chief a former F1 racer. I hope to have some fun this next season, and stay outta trouble. But then again who aint?

You sure can paint when its 32 degrees out. It's 25 here, and I just painted a boat 3 days ago. Its called wood stove, and lots of wood....

RE : Rich -90+ w/ a 150
Rich - No insult intended. I have never seen it done & think I've been around. Every one I have seen rigged with a 150 would only run in the 70's.
Change is a good thing.

Michael - None taken . I don't think all 150s are created equal .
A friend with a 2001 150 fishing motor on a Viper struggles to reach 75 mph . With more set up and seat time I'm sure he'll do better . (the boat has a huge porpoise problem that needs to be worked out)
When I got the Vector with a 1982 150 , 2.0 gear case and L&S nose cone I struggled to reach 78 mph . Put a 1990 2.4 200 hp power head on and went 92.3 mph and consistant 91s .
Depending who I talk to the 2.5 150 ProMax puts out 165 to 180 hp . ( Any of you motor gurus ever put one on a dyno ?)
At the CT River Run I spoke with John Tiger about this motor/boat combo and he didn't seem at all suprised I could run a consistant 90 mph .
The 2.4 200 and the '98 ProMax both meet APBA Factory Stock specs and have been inspected by NEODA . The heads have never even been off the ProMax .
Another plus of the ProMax , fuel mileage . We regularly do the 60 mile round trip CT River Run . With the 200 carb motor it would take a little over 18 gallons . The PM uses a little over 14 gallons .
All these numbers are the result of set up , set up , set up and seat time , seat time , seat time . Little , to no wind helps too . It doesn't take much to blow the Vector off the pad .
This set up dosen't work for the drags (with 8" total set back the hole shot's not great) but has carried a 150 lb passenger to 87 mph .
I use a Garmin 3+ .
