    Dewaxing?

I'm planning on painting my fiberglass boat. I have done quite a bit of reading but I'm wondering about dewaxing. If I sand it down well how important is dewaxing? Can I use laquare thinner instead of thinner/wax remover? The wax remover seems to quite expensive. I don't mind if its needed, but I can get laquare thinner for peanuts.... If I needed it how much do you think I woould need to clean my 19' J-craft (flat bottom) Just doing above the water line.

    Thanks

Castrol Super Clean also works great. Will remove any grease residue and waxes. Just make sure not to get get it on you and rinse it off real good. Great stuff, use it all the time for removing old wax so new wax can be applied. Use it wisly...jmo
