Is the E-TEC 115HO identical to the 130?
The two look identical to each other on the Evinrude web site, and have identical specs and weight. The only place I can see where there might be a difference would be in the ECM calibration. Remember, I'm talking about the 115HO, (not regular 115).

Exact same buddy, I worked with a Engineer for BRP back then, he fished with my boss and gave me all the secrets, technically he said the 130 was actually 130, where the 115ho was 126.5? I dont believe that, their the same......test drive one and at 4500 rpms the Exhaust Valve opens and Poof your at 6000, its like a Turbo or VTEC on a Honda Hi po car, pretty cool.....very torquey...it would work great on your stream....

jeff, he's not talking about an exhaust valve in the sense of a four-stroke. it's a diverter valve that diverts the exhaust into a shorter path at higher rpm's. essentially, it has two exhaust tuners--one for low rpm torque, and one for higher rpm. the "valve" he speaks of is the diverter that chooses which one is in use.

apparently, not all models have the dual-path exhaust, either. i'm a little perplexed by the 115HO, and how evinrude is able to get away with calling it a "115", when it's really identical to their 130, and i'm guessing it has something to do with the dual path exhaust. maybe they certify it as a bare block on a dyno, using the test-dyno's exhaust system, where it measures 115 or 120, then they add their own exhaust trickery to the production models, and voila--130hp? just a guess.

They arent the same, but for the sake of arguement, they may as well be. Kinda like splitting hairs....

Larry are you really doubting me???? Ha Ha Ha, I know FOR SURE, they are the exact same, if their is a 3hp difference as the Line Engineer told me and he Dynos EVERY Etec that is made, then theirs a diff....I highly doubt they would have 2 tunes for a 3hp difference, seems goofy....ALL motor companys can advertise their motors at a 10% above or below advertised #, 115HO = 126.5 104, 130 can be 143 or 117......Its a Hot Motor, its INCREDIBLE in person, trust me......if you IM a dude here from Beaver Dam Wis, who does the ski teams he can help with a used one.....Twin Rig is his name here......

Again, for the sake of arguement, lets say that they are the same.... Why you take offense to this, I dont know..... The 3.4L 250HO and 300 look to be exactly the same too, and for the sake of arguement Id say they are the same....but there is a difference, a non-physical one. So suck it buddy! lol j/k Brannon....ha ha....Call me when your free this week!Jr.

Fuel Curve. Again, its hardly noticable. Very slight difference. (outside of options avaiable)Jr.

I love the v-4's. Out of all the mid range motors they are the best by far.
