    Question V4 Looper intake

Their seems to be alittle debate weather these intakes can be used in a performance motor. One is off a 1985 140 but has 5 pedal reeds and the other is off a 1993 120hp also with 5pedal reeds. Both measure up the same.
What is the year too look for?
    Thanks
    Chris

Question I NEED HELP TOO :)

I have pixs of what I think is an older/good one for a V-6 looper and newer/****ty one.
    Will post older first.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

I have read much about what and when were good/bad but don't have anything definative in my notes.
Racer, can you help edumacate us ?

My notes say this is newer/****ty one but didn't the newer ones become the ones to get at some point??
And wouldn't this info be accuratte for Chris too?

The first is from 86 to early90 Second one is the latest version, the one in between looks like the first but has a 90 degree turn instead of the angle, that is the bad one. Either will work but the late one flows better when it is filled in slightly, use the early one if you have it.

Laker, You want a 140 intake with the 6 pedal reeds. I also make a intake for these engines and also have the production ones.

    Intakes

Gentlemen, I've been trying to determine what intake is on my
96 200 Vindicator, good one or bad one? Are there part #'s or
other ways to tell. If I have the bad one which one do I need?
Thanks in advance and happy holidays

This is a pict of the worst 6 petal one, p/n cast on it is 340758-2 under the #3 carb.Remove the air box open the carb butterflys wide open and look in with a light if the back wall of the intake is vertical with no slant you have the worst one, if the back is slanted your ok .Dave

Steve, A 96 will have the latest model. Your air box should have two thumb screws holding it on.

    Intake

Thanks Dave and Racer. I have a chance to buy an intake off of
a 98 225 but it sounds like its the same one I have. I'll do the
lite trick and yes I do have 2 thumb screws on the baffle if
memory serves me. I'll spend the money on other mods now.
    Thanks again, Steve
