If you can find a 130 or 140 Jonyrude looper, that would be your best bet. The 140 puts out 155 hp from the factory per Land&sea dyno specs. The newer 130hp 1999 vintage looper ran better at idle and mid-range.

You can also borrow all tricks and tips from the V-6 guys here to make your 130-140 rude better, save fuel by having all the power you need and spank most V-6 boats if you want to lol.

Is there a difference between the 130-140 OMC of different years? Were the older ones 90 deg v and newer 60? or are they different motors all together? which is better? What years are the better years?

When I looked up the 140 V4 it seemed to weigh the same as the 2.0L V6 mercs and I thought the V6 would give better performance and not be that much worse on gas as it is only a 2.0 L and the 140 is a 2.4(?)

I also noticed some of the OMC V6 are 478 Lbs (90 deg) and some are 348 Lbs (60 deg) or so. Which motors are the lighter ones? What years are they made? Is that not lighter than the V4 140?

I could be totally mistaken, please let me know if I am looking at the wrong motor specs or am just wrong lol.

    Would like something 1995 - 2005

Hi sorry for not replying sooner, been a busy summer.

I ended up with two motors lol a 1991 Johnson GT100 - had a bad lower - I rebuilt it and put a nose cone on it and it's ready to go.

I also have a 1996 johnson fast strike 115 with a bad block. This is the motor I want to run but I need a powerhead for it or a block at least. if anyone knows of one please let me know.

here is a pic of the lower I did myself and the prop I just bought.

    The boat is done =-D

You can see it on youtube. search Ocean Express Nitro, it's the only one on there. when you get to one video look at the other Videos from Hydrohellion by clicking on the user name, and you will see all my vids

It needs a new prop the one I was using is not right at all but it was still a fun first and second ride :-)

I will get the prop dialed in soon enough.

the cleaver was too much prop

I also picked up an Evinrude Venom V6 150 (Eagle block)- weighs in at 368 lbs so I might try that motor once I get it fixed.

    Thanks very much =-D

It was a lot of work, took 2 full summers including the engine and rigging but it was worth it!

If anyone wants to see all the pictures of the work that I did just PM me and I can send them or a link to them.

Now time to get the right prop!!

When we moved to Fl. And I started fishing. Lol. Maybe this year as I got the fishing boat under conroll. There is a member Bushman who has one. Ask him .He is. Here is a great guy to talk to. Good luck
