    Mercury 2.4 200 Water Temp/Pressure Gauges

I am getting ready to raise my motor, and to that end I've bought water pressure and temp gauges. The previous owner installed a temp sending unit in the top rear of the block near the flywheel in the factory threaded hole, (1/2"?) connected to an automotive gauge in the dash. I'm wondering if I can use the tan (no stripe) wire in the harness at the control box for my new teleflex temp gauge, or is this for the overheat alarm? I have read both on here, and the gauge instructions say use the tan wire. I would then use the 1/2" hole near the flywheel to connect the pressure fitting. What is the best way to connect these two? Thanks

Your not gonna get real water temp in that location. You need to go to the cylinder heads that's a good location for water pressure because that your main water feed into the block.

Is there a way to do this without drilling/tapping? The gauge instructions say to tie into a water line one some 2.4L's but don't say where.

Put the pressure fitting in the 1/2" hole at the top of the block.

I'm thinking the overheat switch is the tan with blue tracer, and should already be connected to the switch in the starboard head.

The tan wire should just be flopping loose at the harness, which can be used for a temp gauge. The temp gauge sender should have a mounting bracket for the sender, to insert it into the drilled cavity under the top spark plug for the port side head. (The overheat switch should be mounted in a similar fashion on the starboard head)

Got it. Looks like the temperature gauge sender for the port side head is part no. 13536A 7 and looks like this, am I right? 1983 Merc 200.

Look like it to me.... That's what I have on mine and the buzzer on the starboard side. A life saver too if your running around weeds that hang up it the thermostat. One side can cook and the other will be just fine so this way you have something monitoring both sides
