1985 Bridgeport EFI on 1985 STV Shovelnose prop question

I was running 83 on GPS last summer, which is respectable but I want a lot more. I got the Jackplate about as high as it can go, and the motor may be able to go a little higher on the plate. My tach wasn't working properly last summer but it was screaming. I was told it had been rebuilt, 240 or so HP. I run a reworked 26 chopper, to 28p. I wanted to get a 30p but someone said it would crack the lower (It has a CLE). Does this make any sense? What's my best prop gonna be? An yone got the same boat? Thanks in advance.
