Seen a couple Lifelines posted here lately at bargain prices, check the buy and sell.
If those are gone, Lifeline gives discounts to Scream and Fly members.Living in the Freedom provided by Bud Conner and his fellow warriors.

If you cant find or afford a Lifeline, the second best choice seems to be the Mustang Survival MV4600. Rated to 100mph. They do not have crotch straps but I have seen them added. About $70 at Defender.com

I bought some from Hamilton Marine that were rated to 100 mph and had leg straps. They were normally 80$ I think but I only ended up paying 40$ a piece. Left me know if you can't locate them.

That 100 mph rating is total manure

Well I feel they are better than wearing my regular 25$ ski life jacket, or wearing none at all.
I am not going 100 mph anyways. I plan on upgrading to lifelines soon, but 80$ for a pair is a bit more easy on the wallet than $600+

The Mustang MV4600 High Collar Water Sport Vest is strength-rated to 100 mph meaning it has been designed and tested to hold up to the rigors of the most demanding water sports such as jet-skiing, wakeboarding, and water-skiing.
I see 100 MPH skiers and wakeboarders all the time.

The Mustang MV4600 High Collar Water Sport Vest seems to go to size 3xl, for some of us it's a tad bit on the small side :-) I'm looking for a 100mph jacket in a 4xl, got any recommendations (besides going on a diet )?

Just to dwell on what Nick mentioned above.. my brother is an accomplished barefoot skier who ended up falling at 40mph ! On "that fall" he hit the water just right and ended up banged up bad and spent a few days in the hospital. Fortunatly, we were right there and he couldn't even get back in the boat. He had on a ski vest and a padded barefoot knee length suit
Another case, a buddy of mine got thrown out of his Hydrostream at 50mph. It wasn't hitting the water that did the damage it was the extreme thrashing he took being thrown around in the boat before he got thrown out. He ended up in the hospital for a bunch of days (ribs) and took 2 months to recover. He's lucky to be alive. He had a PWC vest on... If he had a Lifeline he would have been much better off !
I used to wear ski vests and think the same until Transomstands words woke me up ! Thanks to him for changing my thought process. Those PWC vests are nothing more than a ski vest with a collar. I never looked closely but I'm sure the straps are made of nylon ! Thumbs down to those (vests) !Last edited by rossi; 10-07-2012 at 10:50 AM.

go ahead, spend that $500 on another prop but squeak the $70 out of your wallet because a Lifeline is "too much"...
