You can run that motor(250). Best if its a 20" but its not ideal due to lack of rpms and extra weight in the aft. Just get a prop for top end with real high pitch to go fast and a smaller pitch prop for all around play for carrying a load(people, full tank fuel, coolers ect).

It should run 85 depending on what lower unit you run and gear ratio. If you run a 3.0 ltr sportmaster and 1.62 to 1 ratio I would run a 32-34 pitch for top end and a 28-30 for carrying a load and all around play. Your problem is your stuck in the low rpm range and want stay off the limiter if you can. Wich 250 model are you thinking about getting?

I was thinking about what your saying about a year ago , 250 or 300xs , with a 250 or 300xs you can Ride 4 people and run 75 to 85 Give or take a few , But like Hot shot said there no Top end with the 3.0L .. I think Most 3.0L top out at 85-90 ?

this is all up to you , Just input , I have a 250 3.0L at the shop and Its crossed my mind

The 2.5 fishing motor Works best for me everytime 90 to 92 mph and its simple 29 SRX 18 action

I am just happy you Picked a ACTION MARINE
