When I had a 225X on my XB2003, a 23 Trophy would easily pull up a barefoor skier or 2 others on skis. I did have an Allison foil on the motor that helped a lot on keeping the nose down.

Exactly. The 150 makes more torque at lower rpm.

Truth be told, I did have my doubts about the validity of your claim 'till I saw the video.

    Carry on.

its all about the pitch, put a 15" or 19" prop on a boat that will turn a 26" or higher and it will pull stumps. I dont think the low end grunt has that much to do with it. Remember the term "SKI prop"?
My Lavey is kinda doggy sking with a 28" Raker. I bet my 225 H.O. has a bunch of low end grunt. Put a 24" prop on and its a different animal. I cannot imagine a 17" or 19" prop it would pull very well.
congratulations on the pull Ron! I wouldnt have the patience to fool with that many ropes

That's part of the reason we drink so much Busch afterwards! LOL. Most of the ski clubs use several miles of rope in the course of a show because each act has its own set of ropes. That's why they have several people dedicated just to winding the ropes and keeping them tangle free behind the scenes.

Same here. I have seen a 225x that wouldn't hardly pull a good sized guy up on a single on an Allison XB-2003 with a trophy plus, and that was with nothing in the boat but mom and I.

Yeah, it had a few issues, one even left him stranded on the river one time. Good thing for the trolling motor. He has them mostly sorted out now tho, all except for the sneeze at idle. That's about annoying as it gets right there idling into the dock or trailer. It definitely seems to run better now. We'll see how it does. Just gotta wait for spring. I have a buddy out in WA that had a 225x on his Allison, ran pretty hard, but never pulled a big guy up on slalom. I would think it would have done ok tho put in that situation.

i once water skied off the back of an xr 2002. it was back in 1989. it had a 2.4 bridge port carb motor. prop was either a 28 or 30 pitch hoss. 14.5 diameter. that was the only props my buddy owned. it was a little tough getting up i had to hold on hard and pop myself up. i hung on till bout 60. then the s.o.b hit the trim button and gave me the rooster tail .i let go immediately that hurt more than hitting the water.

97 Triad Malibu w/ worked 200 Merc- 29 4 blade Spinelli worked by Rich but still playing with props. Great all around and have a best of 84 so far but blows out above that. Also have an offshore cut 24 that does really well but hits the limiter at 75mph at 7k rpms.

1984 184SS Baja w/ '88 175 Mariner - 25p Hydromotive quad 4 OT X worked by DAH, originally bought for above boat but it sucked coming out of the hole so I tried it for the first time on this boat last week and loved it. Hits 69mph and gets there fairly quick. 2nd choice would be a 23p LaserII.

As for pulling multiple skiers, it can be done. Weve pulled a couple skiers and kneeboarders at the same time but never 6 skiers. I dont think the Baja would do it with the 23p though. Id have to throw the 19p on it and drop the motor all the way down for that. I havent double skied in a long time but I think getting up on a wakeboard is much easier than on a slalom ski. The slalom drags you through the water longer. With the 19p a blip of the throttle gets you up on a wakeboard pretty quick.

Coupe! I was sure you were gonna say your favorite prop was any kind where the blades stayed on!

For those of you who might not recall, Coupe is the lucky SOB that cut himself shaving with. TREX's prop earlier this season! Hope your recovery is progressing well. Pete

Lol. Thanks Pete. Everythings going great so far. I go back to the dentist in August to get the implant put in my jaw but other than a missing tooth I really came out pretty well. All the muscles and nerves have healed and the only thing I get is an occasional painful sting. l started to put anything other than a mazco 28 but held off. I keep wanting to try one but the irony of having one on my boat keeps me from it. Lol Hope your doing well up there!
