Prawn* is done - 455 Olds Kona - Hamjet

She is finally done, well almost.

After numerous engine(rod) failures I had her on the water.

Thank you to all the guys for their valuable knowledge and input.

Boat looks great Wikus. I know you are glad to have it on the water. Great job on all counts.

    Wikus,
Did you ever determine what may have been causing your problems with your previous engine(s)? Any tech that you want to share?

    Spike,

As far as I can determine I had a problem with the previous block I used.

I used the specs from Bill Travato to build this motor. I used a different type of bearing and went with Eagle H-Beam rods, ARP studs and bolts all round as well as Main Cap Straps. Switched from a 8qt Moroso to a 10qt pan.

I also checked all the clearances personally while the machine work was done, the previous machinist couldn't understand why I needed the extra clearances for the motor.
