260hp vs 280hp
I'm thinking of swapping my Mercury 260hp -91 with a 280hp -00. The 260 has the 4hole cle lower, brucato pcu, and newly calibrated injectors by brucato. The 280 am i awaiting some more info on, but it has got the motorola pcu, and probably a sporty lower unit. Would the 280 be the better choice of these two engines? Is the motorola pcu as good as the brucato, and will the brucato pcu be available for 280's? I'm also a fan of the classic cowling on the 260-models, will this cowling fit the 280 since it has the bigger dynamo?
Best regards
Christian

The 280 is a torque animal, its has a higher charging cap. than the 260, I find the 280 electrics fairly bullet proof on the recreational applications...

the cowling will not fit due to the 50amp alternator on the 280, you will need an alien cowl and pan. however, there is a thread on here somewhere with pics of a guy who used a heat gun to bubble out a cowling like yours to make it fit, but you are probably better with the alien unless you really want to do the work and have a big bubble sticking out.
