"Prop Policy"
I know that some "jerk off" over the years came up with " You ding it you own it"as a prop policy, and that my work for him.....
When UPS came and delivered the box which contained the prop,I paid for it...
I did not borrow it and they did not lend it to me.....
So the prop policy at "Dirk Pitt Motor Sports" is as follows:
Anyone can try anyone of the props I have in inventory, all they need to do, is put the full cost of the prop, plus shipping, plus tax, in CASH, as long as the prop is still avalible.
the prop will be photographed, and the person taking the prop will sign the photos, the prop will be returned in 24 hrs, in the same condition, which mean means washed and CRC'ed, at such time I will determine the condition, "NO ONE ELSE", not even any so called expert i.e. x boat racer.....
If for any reason this does not suit you, by all means I will supply the telephone #s to the appropriate manufacturer so you can supply them with your credit card like I did!!!!
Respectfully,

I would have to agree with you , you ask to borrow a prop you have to understand that if you damage it you just bought another one.

I agree wit all of you. Luckily there different situations (for me) Charlie (Mrcrsr) here on the boards, which a lot of people know will give the shirt off his back for his buddies did a powerhead on my talon. I went to pick it up and he and his Freinds invited me to take it out for some break in time, but I didn't have a prop, he lent me an original Et 30 just back from being labbed. The day went great, until the way home when my skeg cracked completely off and sending me into a 180. Got back to the ramp and saw the damage and was like I'm Fu$&ed! And all he would accept is for me to pay for the repair job. So I guess there are exceptions to the rule (thank god for me)

The trouble with allowing someone to return a prop for full refund, even if undamaged, is that it still is no longer "new" and really shouldn't be resold as such. I would think some kind of restocking fee and a discount on the subsequent sale would be in order. If it was run on a 50 hp Johnson, that's one thing. Not much can happen in 24 hours, but even at that I wouldn't want to buy a blade slinger like a ET or Trophy as a "new" prop for a "new" price that's been run on a 300 Drag, 1 1/2" above the pad - even if there are no dings in the blades. Something would have to come off of the price to sweeten the pot.

Dirk has a lovely point of sale display for his props, but they are for his private use.
Its wrong for any business to be selling props as new and at full price that have been tested and returnedRaybo Marine http://www.raybomarine.com/

Wasn't implying that Dirk is being unethical so I hope it wasn't taken that way. Just making a general statement. But if he is refunding someone in full with this new policy, and then selling it for a lesser price because it has been used, then HE is the one taking the hit on it and he shouldn't have to do that. Used is pretty much used in the prop world.
