JSRE 225X O-Ring Head Cut Service
Just received my shaved 225X pro max O-ring heads back from Jay.
Like the rest of his machine work, the workmanship is top notch.
I temp loaned my heads to support his CNC profile development and verification process for the 225 X O-ring head.
0.045 was shaved off. Anticipate a 10 to 15 psi comp gain.
Will be a few weeks or so before I get them bolted on and check compression numbers.
Seems like most 225X’s (like mine) have compression near 125 psi; no doubt anemic for a consumer HP motor.
Will be interesting to see how the X responds to higher comp.

Can't wait to hear a report of the torque enhancement that the tighter heads create.

This is good to hear. I am anxious to hear the results. My 225x is 120 on all 6 with my old gauge. I bet it would really bump up the bottom end.

JSRE can now cut ALL the popular Mercury O ringed heads ( water and compression side ) to stock spec or any compression you desire..Now use OEM O rings and gaskets
$ 350.00 a pair + freight ( any compression )
$ 200.00 repair 1 head + freight ( any compression )

If a 225X goes from around 125 lbs to 140-142 lbs does the fuel curve need changed? Or anything else? Or is it just a matter of doing the heads?

Finally bolted the shaved 225X heads on the other day.
I checked compression after running the engine on a flusher for a few minutes, 125 PSI on all six. I was anticipated a tad higher.
Compression before the shave was 120. BTW, this motor has top pinned pistons.
I need to confirm with Jay but I think 0.045 was shaved. Jay did make it clear up front that this process is still experimental in regards to X amount shaved equals X amount of compression increase. Jay choose 0.045 (I think) to stay on the conservative side.
Guess I need to ponder if I should run the heads through another cut. I’d like to end up around 145 psi.
Have not had a chance to run it on the lake, old man winter has arrived plus I’m busier than heck at work at the moment.

David,
Pop the heads off and send them back and we will cut them until they're what you want... JSRE's goal is the customer's satisfaction is #1..
.045" was cut and the stock head and it only picked up 5 PSI.. That is strange, when I cut .045" off the regular gasket 2.5 heads it normally pick up 10-12 lbs cranking at sea level..This was our first X motor and I would rather send them back and cut more than have cut too much..
This is a learning process, we've cut a couple of 3 liters and got them in control, the 225X information you've been so generious to furnish and achieve the correct data is priceless to us..
The CNC is open, ready and can do your heads Cat Quick !

I find that most EFI are designed to alter duration time of injector pulse ( lean and rich ) enough to handle a bit of extra HP.. They must be able to make a small fuel curve change simply because of the sales of engines in different place where altiutude and humidity vary..
