4.0 Johnson V8 20 inch offshore mid convert to 25 inch mid.
Can I retain my existing gearbox from a 20 inch offshore mid by fitting that gearbox with a drive shaft and gear change shaft from a 25 inch gearbox and fit it to a 25 inch mid???? Reason is that the gearbox from the 20 inch leg has Bob's low water pickup etc already fitted.

Yes you can. If the lower has a 2 piece drive shaft , that makes it easy. Just get the 25" upper and swap. If not you have to take the lower apart, and change out the drive shaft , check shimming and reassemble. Shift shaft just unscrews and screw new one in but you have to set it to a specific height per the manual. I have a 25" drive shaft and a complete 25" V8 midsection with an offshore exhaust snout on it if you need one. Mid section is very clean, I think I have a shift shaft as well. Let me know

20" on a v6
hi will the 20" v8 mid fit a 235 v6 with convensional v6 drive. I have been looking at converting my v6 to have a v8 mid for a while as i want an exhaust snout etc. Are the adapter plates te same etc.
